ROBERT and Barbara Toal make sure a work
life balance is in play in their busy lifestyles.
And it's an important balance considering their
communications businesses keep growing.
For the past 11 years they have been
providing communication technology to
the region starting with the Telstra store at
Wodonga Plaza in 2004, followed by the
Telstra store and in 2009 the Albury Telstra
Business Centre, both in Dean Street.
Add to this the work they do with remote
areas such as Corryong and Yackandandah
taking 'Telstra on the Road' using a store on
wheels and you can appreciate why ensuring a
healthy balance is paramount.
They now manage a team of 55 people across
their three locations and are passionate about

"We love what we do and we get really excited
about how technology can make your personal
and business life easier," Mrs Toal.
"Technology now lets you be anywhere
and still run your business efficiently. But
technology can also help you make the most
of your personal time and finding that balance.
"We know this well as not only are we business
people, we are also a mum and dad with two
young kids, aged 12 and 14, who keep us on
the go," she explained.
Mr Toal says being involved in the local
community also allows them to contribute to
various local projects and charities.
"You will see us out in the community, me
playing golf, Barb enjoying skiing and local
music, and both us of cheering on our kids at
soccer and netball games," he said.
But they both agree it's about the giving back
locally and helping where you can that is the
most rewarding part.
"It is great that we are able to take part in local
sponsorship opportunities," Mr Toal said.
"For example, one of our favourites is the
Telstra Business Centre Wodonga Gold Cup.
We've supported this racing event for five
years now and we've seen it attract record
crowds to the point where it is now a local
public holiday for our community."
Communication technologies these days
such as apps and cloud technology are
revolutionising the way local business owners
maintain a work life balance, he said.
"We have developed a team that can focus
on what customers want and need from
technology to drive their businesses further.
"We understand what it takes to succeed in
business and we can advise them on their
telecommunications needs, leaving them free
to focus on what they know best -- running
their own business."
"And spending time with family," added Mrs
