diversity in the
Bank's dedication to
gender diversity saw
it recognised as an
Employer of Choice by
the Equal Opportunity
for Women Association
for the past three years.
NAB's managing partner at
Albury's Business Banking
Centre (BBC), Andrew Hogan
said he's proud to say that NAB
is tipping the scales of gender
"NAB is dedicated to achieving a workplace
where women feel welcome, are given
opportunities to progress their careers and
have flexible working choices to balance their
individual and business needs," Mr Hogan said.
"Our Albury team has 24 staff, 13 females
and 11 males in manager and associate roles
helping local businesses with their day-to-day
banking and specialist finance needs.
"The financial services industry can be seen as
a male-dominated sector, however we're looking
to change that," he said.
NAB is using new approaches to attracting
women to the bank to achieve its diversity goals.
"We run a NAB Horizons programs around
Australia helping women from non-banking
backgrounds understand how their current skills
can be transferred to the banking industry," Mr
"So far 190 females have been invited to the
program, with about 10 per cent now working or
going through the recruitment process at NAB.
"We are also attracting more women to the
bank through our Business Banking Graduate
Program, of which, 55 per cent of the 2011
program are women," he said.
In the past year, more than 42 per cent of
business banking positions have been females,
which is a 12 per cent increase on the previous year.
"We also focus on initiatives to support our
women in business banking to harnessing their
talent and assist them to pursue long term
careers at NAB," Mr Hogan said.
"Initiative such as our Executive Women's
Forums and mentoring program give our female
employees the opportunity to network with
passionate and talented women from diverse
divisions of NAB to help develop their career paths.
"We're making an effort to encourage women
to senior level management positions and
have mandated that all Group 4 management
appointments must have one female on the
shortlist," he said.
NAB also offers market leading learning
programs, courses, tools and technologies as
part of our Workplace Development Program.
Helping employees augment their skill-sets
to reach career goals was recognised recently
when NAB's development program won a
FLEXIBILITY AT WORK
Flexible working options are also another way
NAB gives employees choices in managing the
balance between their work and personal life.
It also enables creativity when thinking about
how to meet customer expectations and
importantly enable NAB to attract and retain
"Working part time or from home, job sharing
are just a few options that enable our employees
to manage working commitments with lifestyle
choices, such as family care, studying,
volunteering, travel, etc.," Mr Hogan said.
"Women play an important part in business
and society -- and at NAB we're focused on
supporting them," he said.
