staff and are willing to adapt to any change

external consultant to review our business,"
Mr Whitehead said. "This was extremely
positive and we achieved some great results
for the business by using this consultant.
"We offer significant support to our staff in
their professional development by running
internal training sessions as well as sending
them to external training sessions where
relevant. The partners also attend practice
management seminars on an annual basis."
"We generally monitor our performance
on a monthly basis. We compare staff and
office performance against monthly budgets
and offer feedback as to performance where
required," Mr Whitehead said. "This helps
us to determine staffing requirements so
that workload does not become too difficult
A point of difference with Stewart, Tracy
& Mylon is the availability of the partners
within the business.
"Clients pay good money to their
accountants for good advice and assistance
and we make a point of being available to
these clients when they need us," Mr Mylon
said. "We have an extremely good team of
staff who have extensive knowledge in
many areas but we still understand that our
clients came to see the partners and they
want to know that we are there if they need
"We also believe in being very proactive
with our clients," he added. "We are always
assisting them in implementing strategies
that will help them now and in the future.
Our objective is to understand all of our
clients business and personal objectives and
to assist them in achieving these."
Planning for the future has also been a key
factor in the firm's strategy for many years.
The original partners Kevin Tracy and Peter
Stewart - since retired - introduced David
Mylon as a partner in 1986 and Richard
Young as a partner in 1990. Since then
there had been a major emphasis of bringing
new people into positions of responsibility
within the business so that there are always
fresh ideas coming in.
"We are currently looking at ways to once
again make the business successful for the
next generation as we have several key
younger staff who will be looking to take
on an active role in the business in the next
few years," Mr Mylon said.
