On the road to good business health

A business advisor with the Australian
Industry Group, Mr Wheeler is
responsible for the Albury-Wodonga
region's Enterprise Connect Initiative - a
Federal Government program established
to help eligible businesses reach their full
Enterprise Connect has a national network
of more than 100 business advisors and
provides business improvement services.
"We are able to offer a totally objective and
external viewpoint of their operation," Mr
Wheeler said. "We can then identify areas
that need attention or reconfirm what they
are doing well, help them prioritise for the
future and move forward."
Enterprise Connect's services include
'business reviews' which are delivered at no
charge. Mr Wheeler compared the review
to a 'health check' but highlighted that
following on from that they could source
funding to assist with the implementation
of the improvements identified.
Described as a top to bottom analysis, the
review may take one or two days and looks
at various operational levels of the business.
It examines areas such as relative strengths
and weaknesses, strategic business issues,
critical areas for business improvement and
potential pathways for growth.

Mr Wheeler, who moved to Albury-
Wodonga from Young in 1976, joined
Enterprise Connect in 2012 after an
18-month stint as general manager of
Border company, Bradflo, and has worked
previously at DSI and Norske Skog. He
also worked for a privately owned labour
hire business, WV Management, which
worked closely with the meat processing
