ED LEAD THE WAY
Why La Trobe?
The main reason why I chose La Trobe was the fact that
they were offering the MBA via regional delivery. The
program is actually delivered from the new La Trobe
campus in Melbourne and via video conferencing to the
regional campuses at Wodonga, Bendigo, Shepparton and
Mildura. The other reason is La Trobe's commitment and
presence in Wodonga.
I would not have had the opportunity to complete an MBA
had La Trobe not decided to offer the regional delivery.
Completing an MBA requires a significant financial
commitment on the students behalf, and although some
of the units are delivered via 'block' or intensive mode in
Melbourne, having the ability to complete the majority
of the units in Wodonga reduces some of the costs
What are your impressions/highlights of the course?
Having only recently started my MBA (three units
down/ and nine to go), there are three highlights in
particular that stand out to me thus far:-
1. The academic and administration staff at La
Trobe are first class;
2. The network you begin to develop among your
fellow MBA students is extremely valuable; and
3. The classes that you attend during semester
provide the opportunity for some really
challenging and stimulating discussion
between group members. This semester we did
Values, Ethics and Diversity from 6-9pm
on Monday nights. You learn almost as much from
fellow students as you do from the academic

made redundant I applied for a number of jobs that
I believed I had the experience, knowledge and
expertise to not only perform the requirements
of the role but also offer additional skills and
experience. However, I wasn't even getting to the
At the time I was working with a career coach from
an agency in Sydney. We contacted a number of the
employers where I had already been unsuccessful
and the common theme was that although I had
good experience, I had no academic qualification
and most were looking at the MBA level of
