FINDING a better way was the catalyst for
Angus and Fiona Harris opening their personal
training business seven years ago.
FitPeople of Albury offers a tailored training
and fitness program in a well-equipped, friendly
and private environment
As well as Mr Harris there are two other staff
members, both qualified personal trainers.
Mr Harris had previously worked in gyms and
saw a need for so many to engage in a fitness
program. He decided it could be done better
and started out on his own.
FitPeople provides a separate studio and trainer
for each of its clients
"One-on-one training is my passion," Mr
He said when he came to Albury in 2000 "There
was only a small cycling community. In the last
six to eight years it has grown so popular, with
more and more people taking it up. People are
cycling, mountain biking, doing challenge rides
and triathlons or just making lifestyle changes."
As a cyclist himself, he saw an opportunity to
teach cyclists that they can get better and they
don't have to be athletes to do it.
Through FitPeople's new Training Peaks online
platform via Powerlab.com.au, he is coaching
people from all over the world. The training
uses a bike computer or smartphone, recording
information such as speed, heart rate, distance,
uploaded into a computer. This information is
then used to develop a training program.
"It's accessible to everyone now," Mr Harris
said. "We can get people to do less hours on
the bike with bigger and better results."
