WITHIN the past twelve months the business
managers of both the Wodonga and the
Albury Northside Chambers have left but their
successors Bernie Squire and Kathie Heyman
have seamlessly picked up the reins.
Mr Squire, 48, brings a variety of skills and
knowledge to the position. He has previous
administrative experience working for both
state and local government (V/Line, Shire of
Buninyong and City of Ballarat).
He moved to Wodonga in 2002 to take up the
position of golf professional at the Wodonga
Country Club and also opened and operated
The House of Golf Wodonga for six years.
Looking for a change of scenery, he moved into
the finance sector as the operations manager
for Quadrant Securities in Wodonga before
stepping up to the general manager's position.
Mr Squire commenced with the Wodonga
Chamber this year and is currently studying for
a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at
La Trobe University.
"We have made our home in Wodonga and
I was attracted to the chamber position as it
provided the opportunity to work with local
businesses," he said.
"I am passionate about shopping and buying

powerful," Mr Squire said.
Albury Northside business manager Kathie
Heyman is responsible for ensuring that it
is acknowledged as the 'peak business body'
in the Albury region with high level member
engagement and creating a robust chamber and
Ms Heyman has high level management
experience and specialist knowledge gained
from working in a diversity of fields including
the business, community development and
events sectors. She has an Advanced Diploma
of Management and qualifications in event
management and community development.
Her earlier work included more than 10 years'
experience in the retail sector, she has been
the owner of a franchise business and, most
recently, was the general manager of the Deni
